I didn't get here alone.

I live as if my ancestors were living again, just through me.

I was tilled before I was ever born. My body is a bed of flowers collected by every ancestor before me, so I am both me and them. I am a collection of the memories of everyone I love. I was fertilized by people who will never know my name. I was watered, luckily, by hands that loved me. I flourish in the sun because those who came before me dance in it.

The words I speak and think and feel are too wise to have come from me alone. I am simply a gift, given by all the love that came before me.
